Marni Mount is a director, actor, and dramaturg living and working in Naarm (Melbourne).
Focusing on new Australian writing for the stage and screen, Marni makes work that is formally inventive, visually imaginative, and unafraid to take on big ideas. With an interest in adaptation and work that creatively engages with the canon, she has a reputation for making smart, funny, feminist work.
Marni has worked extensively as an independent director and artist in Naarm, and in her hometown of Canberra. Among others, she has worked with La Mama, Red Stitch Actors Theatre, fortyfivedownstairs, Theatre Works, The Street Theatre, Melbourne Shakespeare Company, Canberra Theatre Centre, Canberra Youth Theatre, Shakespeare by the Lakes, the National University Theatre Society, Screen Canberra, and completed directing attachments with Melbourne Theatre Company and Elbow Room.
Her critically acclaimed production of Emmanuelle Mattana's stunning debut play Trophy Boys toured nationally in 2024, following a sold out a two-week return season at fortyfivedownstairs in 2023, and received four Green Room Award nominations including for Best Direction and Best Production.
Marni is the 2024 Red Stitch Actors Theatre Hansen graduate director.
